It blends beautifully and very realistically. I'm particularly fond of the oil paint brush, you can choose the loading of your paintbrush, it's transparency and how it will blend with paint already on the canvas. What I love most is that it can bring a traditional feel to digital art which has a tendency to look too smooth and plastic. Because it is intuitive to use, students can spend more time nurturing their inner Picasso than laboring to learn a complex program.ĪrtRage is simple and easy to use, it's not overly complex but the tools it has are powerful. ![]() It's like having magic digital 8.5x11 paper.ArtRage is a painting and drawing application that simulates real-world materials to enable students to easily create sophisticated digital artwork. What I am really looking forward to (coming soon in new update) is the handwriting integration (i have been using a 3rd party tool that is somewhat janky) so I can ditch the keyboard altogether.Īlso the apple pen 2 does angle sensitivity too.ie you can use a chisel point marker or flat brush the wide way or the skinny way.a feature that usu costs more in the cintiq line. You can totally get PS for ios, but why would you when there's better options you can OWN for a song, not RENT for an arm and a leg. All of these programs cost less than $10. I also use ArtRage because there's a bunch of (somewhat odd) tools that no one else has that are fun to play around with, including the ability to use dirty wter when doing watercolor. Maybe not as much for photo editing or text features, but for painting and drawing it produces a much better result, much easier. I have long been looking to ditch photoshop and any other "subscription software" and procreate kinda blows it out of the water. My ipad pro replaced my computer the instant I got it, and I was just planning to use it for drawing. posted by Armed Only With Hubris to Computers & Internet (13 answers total) 3 users marked this as a favorite I am not a fan of Apple products, but there may be something about them I am missing. It doesn't have to be top of the line, just be able to handle what I outlined above. Really what I am looking for is a device that has a decent, fast processor and all the other components necessary to handle draw program graphics without crawling along at a snail's pace. That way if I don't like drawing on the device I still have a computer that can meet my other needs. I happen to need a new computer, so it makes sense to me to buy a portable device that will let me work with a draw program, while also being able to stream, browse and use writing apps. I am also aware of the Cintiq, but it is too much of an investment when I am not sure I will like using that, either. I know about and have tried a regular Wacom tablet, but found myself disengaged from my work while using it. I am trying to learn how to use electronic devices to make artwork and so far that hasn't gone well. ![]()
